Kiddo-isms

Isaac and Sam have been pretty funny lately.  Here are a few of the things that have had me laughing this past week....
This morning we went outside early to leave for school and it was pretty cold.  When we got in the car Isaac:  "mom, I wish God would just listen to what I told him in my head - to stop making cold air!"  I hear you boy.
Isaac is starting to notice the difference between a boy who has been circumcised and himself (sorry to the Isaac reading this 15 years from now if I am sharing TMI, but it was too funny to NOT share.)  Out of the blue Isaac says "mom, my penis just looks regular, but (insert preschool classmate's name here) penis looks like Saturn."  I was a little baffled, so I asked him what he meant.  "so and so's penis is a ball with a ring around it that looks just like Saturn.  His penis is like a planet!"  hahaha....oh man. Just no privacy in those urinals.   It was funny, until he asked me to explain why.  uuuuhl.  Some parents choose to have the doctors do a surgery when a baby boy is born, and some don't.  That is why they look different.  Luckily, he was cool with that brief explanation.
Isaac:  "mom, are you and dad done growing taller?"  yes...blah blah blah, once you are a mom and dad you don't grow any taller...blah blah blah."  10 minutes later..."I don't ever want to get a wife! I never want to stop growing."
Also, I swear this boy has a photographic memory.  He saw the outline of Hawaii on a car in front of us on the way to school.  No words, no color, no graphics, just a simple black and white outline of Hawaii.  He said "look mom, it's a map of Hawaii!" whaaaaaaaa?  That memory will serve him well when it comes time to take tests in school. ha!
And this came home from school last week:
I picked up Isaac and his teacher, Miss Lori, told me they learned about Martin Luther King Jr. and his "Dream."  Isaac then proceeded to tell me about how Martin Luther King Jr. was a hero and helped everyone get along.  I was feeling pretty impressed with him on the way home/proud of what he had internalized.  Then, I saw this....
I thought..."why is this so sloppy?"  What happened here?

And then I read this....hahaha

....and this.   Each day Miss Lori asks them what they enjoyed the most and writes their answer in the box.  This child.

Sam had a double ear infection this past weekend (BOOOOOOO!)  His tubes had fallen out very recently and the ears begin again...but that is a story for another time.  Anyway, so he's been pretty sullen for over a week.  Dave was sitting on the couch comforting him/trying to distract him and they started watching the movie "Hidalgo," about a cowboy who does a 3,000 survival race across the Arabian desert.  Sam has never been this entranced, even by a cartoon.  Ever since watching a bit of that movie, he has become utterly obsessed.  He probably says "Dalgo" no less than 50 times a day and has thrown some major tantrums over not being able to watch Hidalgo.  Since there are some violent parts we turn it off at, he reaches out toward the TV like someone pulling out his kidneys and whines "Daaaaaaaalgooooo, please, daaaaaalgo."  The boy hearts Hidalgo.

Oh man, I know there is more, but that's all that comes to mind at the moment.  These boys keep me quite happy and entertained....and exhausted :)
And a few photos while I am transferring photos to the computer anyway :
Had to snap a photo of Babsi and Isaac with the cute robot she knit him for Christmas.  Now "BabsiPop" are on another around the world adventure.  Someday I hope Dave and I can do that kind of traveling!

Such a stark contrast to a couple years ago.  Day-Z would not let Isaac touch her with a 10 foot pole  Now she love the pets from both boys.

Sam is very sweet with her...when he pets her he always says "Day-Z.  Soft.  Gentle."

Painting the door with water and foam shapes...fun winter activity.

Everyday occurance here.  "Sammy smash!"

And I had to post this one because it reminded me of my awesome mom.  No, not the skull and cross bones.  How do I say this...my mom and I are not seamstress material, but we still like to make things happen.  When Isaac brought home a note from school that said he could dress up as anything tomorrow (what he wants to be when he grows up, a super hereo, etc) he immediately wanted to be a pirate superhero.  So, pirate flag - check.  yarn and a wire hanger to thread it through the flag...check.  headband stretchy to complete it and....pirate cape. hahahaha....only my mom will really understand this picture and be able to empathize :)  We excel in other areas, right ma?
