Dedicated to....

The Carsellers! Kind of. Okay, it's a hybrid of the Sellers/Isaac.
This blog post is long overdue. Our very good friends Jessi and Dalan had a baby on May 14th, 2010. She was 15 weeks early, and just a tad under a pound. You can follow the link above to hear more about Quinn's incredible, miraculous story. I could write page after page about this amazing little girl and her fabulous parents, but those of you who know me well have probably already heard about this incredible family! Quinn came home October 1st (right, Jess?) and is doing SOOO very well. I've had the pleasure of meeting Quinn on several occasions, and I love this little gal!
Here is one of a billion beautiful photos of Quinn:
Because Quinn came into the world so early, Jessi and Dalan have had to take more precautions with her than a full term newborn. Quinn shouldn't be around other children/babies until after she is at least one (again, correct me if I'm wrong Jessi!) I anticipate that Quinn and Isaac will become good friends one day, but I have gone right ahead and put this process on the fast track! Whenever Jessi posts pictures of Quinn on her blog, I show Isaac. Quinn (Jessi and Dalan,) got Isaac a Christmas present, and whenever Isaac plays with it, he reminds me that "Kin" got it for him. He knows the names of Quinn's family members, and he recognizes her from afar in blog pictures when he's playing and I'm busy spying on blogs and such :)
So, this video is for you, Quinn.

Adults social network online, why not Isaac and Quinn? :)

Another Milestone...

Well, this one is more like a right of passage for every kid. Isaac discovered the joy of rain puddles today. I think the video is self explanatory. Plus, it was a beautiful day (for January in the Wasatch,) so I took some photos.

Isaac playing with a cattail in the puddles...

He spotted the geese overhead in both of these...

Playing peek-a-boo with his awesome hat that Uncle Jiri and Aunt Jen brought him back from Ecuador!

And of course, our favorite bitches, Abbie and Day-Z

Mischievious Pants

Don't be fooled by the sweet grin, nor the giant cucumber (rumor has it that only non-mischievous kids eat their veggies, right?)

Although he has more sweet, fun moments than not, Isaac definitely has a GIANT case of the terrible twos. He terrorizes the dogs, despite the consequences, and thinks it is HI-LARIOUS!
Here are some of the sweet, and not so sweet things Isaac says lately:

Us: Isaac, why are you hitting? Why are you sad?
Isaac: Ike-ees gumpy! (Isaac's grumpy.)

Us: Isaac, do you like it, or love it (in reference to anything)
Isaac: Like it. Love it, too.

Day-z "grrrrrrrr........grrrrrrrrr..."
Isaac: While chasing Day-Z with some object or another "Run life Day-z" (run for your life Day-Z.)

Whenever he hears the word birthday, he says "Apul (April) first. Ike-ees. Two."

Other current favorites:
"Oh Boy!!!!"
"hippopomus"
"stronger. eat food. muscles...BIG!"
Counts to 13 (but almost always skips 5)
Named his animals/play people Bill, Manny, Lisa, Pong. His Pillow Pet dog is named "Walter" and he tells Walter that he has to stay in bed until six o'clock every morning, no crying.
Isaac has also been opposed to leaving the house lately because of the cold. Takes after his mama.
Mischief: Isaac writing on his hands/body with a pen.

Milestone #8 - Colors

We started working on colors with Isaac in November. He quickly got orange, blue, and red. The others came when we put up a Christmas tree with multi-colored lights. He was SO excited about all of the lights, and he was super psyched when we turned on the lights, and he could tell us all the colors of the lights.

He quickly defined his favorite color as orange followed closely by pink. He chooses orange and pink everything (including buttons, of course.) He loves orange so much that after awhile he gave orange a nickname. Now, he lovingly refers to orange as “orange-y.” When he wants us to give him something, or he wants to show us something, he will often just refer to that something by it’s color. When we are reading books, sometimes I think that he doesn’t hear any of the words we read, because all he wants to do is point out the colors of everything on the page. It’s pretty damn cute.

We told Isaac what our favorite colors are, and we also told him what the dogs’ favorite colors are. This boy has an incredible memory. After telling him once, we would go through the repertoire of whose favorite color is what. Abbie- pink. Day-Z – red. Mom- bue. Dad- geen. Ikees (that’s what he calls himself) – orange. Then, he quickly picked up on favorite colors of several other important people in his life and memorized those. I have a video of it but DOH! It’s too big to post to blogger. Stupid blogger.

Isaac will always choose an orange shirt if there are clean ones in his drawer. Unfortunately, and to my surprise, I could not find a recent photo of him wearing an “orange-y!” What??? But you will see, in this photo below, that he immediately chose the orange and pink pieces of the Clippo toy. In fact, now that Clippo is “old,” we may as well only keep the orange and pink pieces out, because those are the only ones he’ll play with.

Milestone # 7 - Dance Champ and..."still workin'" for fun.

Isaac's been dancing for quite some time now. Before he was even crawling, like most babies, he enjoyed moving to the beat. The more mobile he became, the more sweet his dance moves became. He really will dance to anything, but he has his favorites. His favorite bands to dance to include:
Delta Spirit
Black Keys
Michael Franti

I am not sure if that video posted right. I hope so, or else I will try again later.
"Still Workin'"
So this is in no way a milestone, but hilarious all the same. I am still nursing Isaac (and I am actually dreading the weaning process which I will start soon and hope to have him totally weaned by May, when he is just past 2 yrs old.) Anyway, when I am nursing him, I will usually just tell him if I am going to move him to switch sides. He has always been cool with that. Lately, however, when I tell him it's time to switch sides and he's not ready, he will stop nursing and tell me, in these exact words" still workin', busy." Then he will go back to nursing. By all means Isaac, sorry to interrupt.
