Sleep

I MISS and YEARN for my sleep. I am just going to go ahead and say I COVET babyless peoples’ uninterrupted, long stretches of sleep. I have always been a 9 hour girl. Heavy sleeper. Wake up, fall right back into a blissful state of being sleeper. I also enjoyed taking a nap whenever, where-ever and for however long I wanted. (on a side note, Dave says he misses his sleep like Frosty misses his corncob pipe. obviously, OBVIOUSLY, he does not miss his sleep as much as I do.) This has been a major adjustment for me, and it has forced me to be much less lazy. Lazy usually has so many negative connotations with it, but laziness, I miss you. With that being said, would I trade sleepy time and laziness for even one smile from Isaac? No way. He’s THE absolute best. (okay, okay, maybe ONE smile…but no more!)
So why am I up writing a blog about missing sleep at 1:24 AM you ask? Because Isaac is downstairs crying, of course. He had an ear infection last week, which inevitably meant that in order to comfort him, he ended up being held and eventually by about 2 AM, brought into our bed just so that we could all get some sleep. Babies form habits in, oh, 2 seconds, which means that in one short week, it became habit for him to wake up every two hours again. AAAAAAGGHHHHHH! So here we are, training him, AGAIN. cry for 10 minutes, comfort, cry for 10 minutes, comfort, repeat repeat repeat repeat ( you get the idea...) Heartbreaking, but for us, necessary to FUNCTION again.
on a side note - this was his first time being sick and it was NOT COOL.
In fairness, I should say that since he was about 5 months, he sleeps a good 10-11 hours at night (from 7:30 til about 6 am) I am very thankful for that, but I am a little bummed that he wakes up SO very early (even on the weekends, didn't he get the memo about sleeping in?) PLUS, he wake up at about 4 am and nurses every morning. This is definitely not his fault, it's probably more mine. I feel like since I am working and am not there for him for 8 hours a day, that I can't just cut this feeding out. I am waiting for him to do it on his own. Either that, or when he turns one...whichever comes first.
Okay, done rambling (I am sure that's what this has been. After all, I woke up after sleeping for 3 hours and am blogging mid-sleep.)
Blog readers...don't cry for me. Actually....do.
